Oatmeal is a domestic superfood because it contains a soluble fibre (beta-glucan) which has a positive effect on cholesterol levels. The EFSA (European Food and Saftey Authority) also sees it this way and approves a health claim for the cereal: "...oat beta-glucan lowers / reduces the cholesterol level in the blood. Lowering blood cholesterol levels can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

The cookies can not only be prepared for Christmas, but as cookies in the summer they are just as well received as a small snack. To add a little freshness to the cookies, you can add apple sauce to half the butter. A pinch of cinnamon as a spice is very suitable for the winter variant.
